Being in the will of God is as easy as doing the Scriptures. Those are our General Orders that apply to every single believer. You act on THAT 'til you get a Commissioned position. Some people never do anything, not so much as a single verse of the Bible, claiming they don't want to do anything but what God tells them, and God assigns their portion with the guy that buried his talent. It took Lord Jesus 30yrs to get into the Commissioned Will of God for Himself. 'Til that time, He obeyed the Scriptures. If it took Lord Jesus 30yrs to get into a specific Will of God for Himself, then most people may never have more that's required of them beyond what's Written. We fill our time on Biblical principles with what we would and what is necessary 'til there's something SPECIFIC to do that He's revealed.
Then, WE DON'T HAVE ANY RIGHT TO DO ANYTHING ELSE -- although, that "New Thing" that God requires of us as an individual, as a couple, as a family, as a business, or whatever MUST BE BUILT UPON EVERY LINE OF THE NEW TESTAMENT. However, time is usually of the essence where obeying His Specifics because further Specifics are based upon a successful TAKING of that particular promised land that He's indicated, whether it's relational, ministerial, educational, or with regards to the Creation around us. Two kids are told to go outside and play, moments later one of them is told to come inside and run some errand or do some task in the home and they don't, figuring they'll do it LATER after they've gotten school stress out of their system. Which of the two did the will of their parent? Both instructions came from their parents, but only one of the children did what they were told. Playing outside for both of them would have likely been fine after the one told to go inside for some other purpose had completed that particular purpose.
The will of God isn't rocket science. It's acting according to more and more and more and more Scripture, ever-increasingly, on ANYTHING one chooses to do that isn't an insult to those very Scriptures, but when something SPECIFIC is given, then all of that Scripture time must be channeled towards that particular instruction. If God were to say to go have a healing ministry, then it would be rebellion to still be walking in love, but to spend all of one's time in the Book of Revelation, UNLESS a Concordance or the Holy Spirit brought up something specific that you were to read through healing-tinted glasses! God is not honoured by continuing to work for a previous instruction if He's indicated doing something else entirely. Only upon successful completion of that new task can you go back to the previous one that He, Himself, assigned, UNLESS you go back to Him about it, and He SPECIFICALLY INDICATES we're done with that for now.
Telling you things it took me yrs to learn on this, between Kenneth Copeland's ministry, T.L. Osborn's ministry, and Lester Sumrall's ministry, perhaps from the late 70s through the mid-90s because of all of the other stuff there is out there that's taught about barely going to the bathroom and wiping yourself without having to have 9 prophesies or whatever. You search the Scriptures, base your hope on your Covenant with God for whatever's on your heart to do and you're in the will of God -- unless He speaks up and tells you to do something different and you keep maintaining status quo, though trying to behave according to Scriptural principle. I haven't counted them, but there's perhaps a 30:1 ratio on Scriptures about doing the Scriptures verses Scriptures telling you to do the will of your Father in heaven. More emphasis is placed, from cover to cover, upon a Word of Faith lifestyle than about having this running conversation with Voices that better not be telling you something that you can't find in the Book!!
