...by His stripes you were healed. 1Peter 2:24
This closing line from 1Peter 2:24 expresses the precious truth of the physical healing of every believer that belongs to them because of what Lord Jesus endured on the Cross. This truth is a means of participating in the divine nature, according to 2Peter 1:
2 Grace and peace be multiplied to you in the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord, 3 as His divine power has given to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of Him who called us by glory and virtue, 4 by which have been given to us exceedingly great and precious promises, that through these you may be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust. 2Peter 1:2-4
Through the assurance of “by His stripes you were healed” you are able to escape the corruption, or degeneration, that is in the world through lust. The word translated “lust” doesn't just refer to sexual lust. It means inordinate pressures on the flesh through it's environment or bad training of the flesh, as you study not only the definitions of what that's translated from, but also it's usage in the Bible. Our “creature comforts” and our “preferences” that we've adopted over time, right or wrong, can place inordinate amounts of pressure on our bodies until they break down. This provision here in 1Peter 2:24 of divine healing is our remedy to that where it has happened and it's our insulation against it becoming our ongoing experience and we stand on it in faith. Colossians 2:6-7 gives us one of the means of securing the experience of the healing in our bodies:
6 As you therefore have received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in Him, 7 rooted and built up in Him and established in the faith, as you have been taught, abounding in it with thanksgiving. Colossians 2:6-7
First, you believe the love God has for you, according to John 3:16, John 17:23, and 1John 4:16. When you've settled that in your heart that God gave Christ Jesus as a ransoming sacrifice for you, then 1Peter 2:24's closing declaration of “by His stripes you were healed” is but one more aspect to begin developing faith for by your acknowledgement of that truth and your thankfulness to God in the name of Jesus that the same Acts 10:38 anointing that was present in Christ as He went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed of the Devil in the 4 Gospels is precisely the same anointing reaching out to you today to destroy this sickness, disease, weakness, pain, or distress that has tried to latch onto your body.
Lift up your hands and begin thanking God because “by His stripes you were healed” and your circumstances can't nullify the work God did at the Cross in accounting Jesus' body broken for yours so that yours wouldn't have to be broken another day in your life. The circumstantial evidence of what your body is experiencing cannot override the place of “by His stripes you were healed” as your alibi from this sickness that's tried to charge your body of being worth of death for something that was already nailed to the Cross. Lord Jesus took the punishment that was due for all you've ever done or been the victim of. You can rejoice because your healing was Covenantally-cut into the very flesh of Lord Jesus, as He stood up for you as your Blood Brother and took the punishment that was due to your soul, your body, and your relationships so that you could walk free of this to the praise of His glorious grace. Ephesians 2:8 can be read from the Greek text as saying:
For by grace have you been healed through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God.
Healing is as much an incarnation of the love of God for you as it is of your thanksgiving that genetically becomes one with that healing power, giving birth to the meeting of your needs and the granting of your heart's desire. God has prepared a table before you in the presence of your enemies, according to Psalm 23:5. Your body is not your enemy. Without your body, how would you partake of the table that's been set before you in the presence of your enemies? God as much filed the paperwork for the adoption of your physical body as He did for your spirit and soul through every page of the Bible and by paying the application fee of Christ Jesus! Colossians 2:6-7 says:
6 As you therefore have received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in Him, 7 rooted and built up in Him and established in the faith, as you have been taught, abounding in it with thanksgiving.
Just begin to thank God that you are a participant in the divine nature because you received Jesus, according to Colossians 2:6 and 2Peter 1:2-4, because the knowledge of the healing Lord Jesus merited for you by fulfilling the Scriptures has abounded to you:
2 Grace and peace be multiplied to you in the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord, 3 as His divine power has given to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of Him who called us by glory and virtue, 4 by which have been given to us exceedingly great and precious promises, that through these you may be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption (or death trap) that is in the world through lust (or it's inordinate pressures on your flesh).
Lord Jesus fulfilled the requirement of the Scriptures for your healing to belong to you for as long as God exists. Your healing is a part of your eternal life, which you know you've had since the moment you avowed Jesus as your Lord, believing God raised Him from the dead (Romans 10:9). Your healing belongs to you as much as your Bible does because your Bible and your conviction of it being the Word of God is the title deed to all of the eternal life and the healing you've received from God according to John 3:16 and 1Peter 2:24. Your healing is as settled as the reality of the righteousness of Christ is to your spirit and every bit as real as your renunciation of all ungodliness when you embraced the Lordship of Christ Jesus. Colossians 3:16-17 says regarding your healing and every other gift of God:
16 Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom, teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord. 17 And whatever you do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him.
Since healing, physically, through the provision of Christ, is what you are doing in word and deed, then heal in the Name of the Lord Jesus; giving thanks to God the Father for your healing in the Name of Jesus. Doing this as the Scriptural provisions of your healing are becoming your conviction from the Holy Spirit is called, elsewhere in Scripture, submitting to God and resisting the Devil 'til he flees from you. It says that in James 4:7 and 1Peter 5:6-11. Give God thanks today for the healing that is yours through Christ Jesus. Give no place to any discouragement as though what Jesus did isn't enough for your physical body's daily needs. Rejoice because “by His stripes you were healed,” according to 1Peter 2:24. Your healing has been defended by the resurrection of Christ Jesus. He has given you His Holy Spirit to guide you into all of the truth where your healing is concerned and nothing can ever separate you from the love of God in Christ Jesus, as John 14:26 and Romans 8:38-39 say:
26 But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all things that I said to you. John 14:26
38 For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, 39 nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord. Romans 8:38-39
Your healing is your personal property that was given to you by God through Christ Jesus. It's as much your possession as your television or the shirt you are wearing. God gave it to you when He gave you Lord Jesus and it'll never be less yours just because your body is needing to rest in your thanksgiving for all that Jesus provided for you. Your healing can't be taken away from you any more than Lord Jesus can be taken away from you. Lord Jesus has fulfilled the Scriptural code for your healing and it's yours today by the grace of our Lord Jesus because God loves you and He fought the battle for your healing through the physical body of Lord Jesus 2,000yrs ago and that victory is as complete as His resurrection and the taste of that physical healing is received and administered to your body through your thanksgiving.
Spend a day reading and rereading this letter if your body's needing this good news and just thank God all of the way through it because of the healing that is yours, the mercies of God that are new every morning, and His compassions that never fail, according to Lamentations 3:22-23 and 1Corinthians 13:8:
22 Through the Lord’s mercies we are not consumed, because His compassions fail not.
23 They are new every morning; great is Your faithfulness. Lamentations 3:22-23
8 Love never fails. 1Corinthians 13:8
In closing, read Psalm 103:1-5 and begin your thanksgiving for all we talked about today:
1 Bless the Lord, O my soul; and all that is within me, bless His holy name!
2 Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all His benefits:
3 Who forgives all your iniquities, Who heals all your diseases,
4 Who redeems your life from destruction, Who crowns you with lovingkindness and tender mercies,
5 Who satisfies your mouth with good things, so that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s.
We thank You, Father, for this healing that was shed by our Lord Jesus at the whipping post and we thank You for Your saving grace in giving this healing to us in abundance so that our minds and bodies are without a worry or a strain. Father, we love You because You first loved us. We thank You, Father, for sending Jesus to fulfill the Scriptures regarding our healing, for sending Your Holy Spirit to be our conviction of the reality of this healing, that it's been ours all of this time. We thank You, Father, in the Name of Jesus, that the same anointing that was present in Jesus healing all that were oppressed of the Devil, according to Acts 10:38, is present and active in healing our bodies because Your compassions don't fail and Your mercies are new every morning. We thank You, Father, that not only can nothing ever separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord, but nothing can ever separate us from this healing because Jesus lives and He is the guarantee of this precious promise according to Hebrews 7:22. We thank You, Father, that Covenantally we are as healed as Jesus is raised from the dead and we believe Your Word that no circumstantial evidence can ever arise to disprove either. We thank You, Father, and we leave here determined to walk in the same light of our healing that our Lord Jesus walks in and that His Blood is cleansing us of all unrighteousness, according to 1John 1:7. We thank You, Father, in Jesus' Name, for the righteous experience of our healing in the land of the living because it is on that table You've set before us in the presence of our enemies, according to Psalm 23:5 and right now we participate in the divine nature where this healing is concerned, according to 2Peter 1:2-4 and we have the escape from all that has been pressuring our flesh, in Jesus' Name. Amen!
Just go from here rejoicing and giving thanks that your healing is yours and my healing is mine because His compassions never fail, His mercies are new every morning, and by grace we are healed, through faith, and that not of ourselves; it is the gift of God and the victory of our Lord Jesus in the land of the living. Your testimony of the righteous healing you have in Christ because of God's righteousness will always remain intact because God's making all grace abound to you, according to 2Corinthians 9:8:
8 And God is able to make all grace abound toward you, that you, always having all sufficiency in all things, may have an abundance for every good work.
This is how we could read this, because of Ephesians 2:8 and 2Peter 1:2-4 that we've previously read in this letter: God is able to make all healing abound to you, so that you always having all healing in all things may abound to every good work. The grace of our Lord Jesus is the riches of God's provision for every need, according to 2Corinthians 8:9:
For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though He was rich, yet for your sakes He became impoverished, that you through what befell Him would become rich.
So in this instance, abundance of healing is what we're giving God thanks for! All sickness was beaten into His back so that you could turn your back on every sickness, disease, weakness, pain, and distress that's ever tried to trespass your body, God's temple. God loves you and so do I. Go forth with a thankful heart, remembering all of God's benefits to you. Christ Jesus has never surrendered you to any circumstance that has tried to separate you from His best in this life. To the praise of His glorious grace, He's at God's right hand interceding for you and He remains defiant that you will triumph in all things and at all times.

For the idols speak delusion; the diviners envision lies, and tell false dreams; they comfort in vain. Therefore the people wend their way like sheep; they are in trouble because there is no shepherd. Zechariah 10:2
Unless otherwise noted, Scripture quotations are from a solid Center Column Reference Study New King James Version Bible. Where Center Column Reference alternate renderings are preferred, they're not always noted on the site at the time of their usage in a given context, if there's a discrepancy between our quotation and a NKJV that our site's visitors use that's missing the Center Column Reference notes that provide more literal renderings, alternative Hebrew and Greek manuscript variations, etc. Sometimes an "Understood Subject" from the given chapter of the Bible or the particular book of the Bible (perhaps previous chapter) is given attention to while teaching.
