I can't emphasize enough the need of each of you to develop your own faith by spending quality hours on your own in your Bible, even if you feel like at the time you got very little out of it without your favorite Bible teachers taking you through it. Your long-term understanding of the Word and having faith that will survive any storm and bring you out fully delivered, victorious, and with the peace, joy, and hope of God will depend more on your own mining than what a dearly trusted Bible teacher took you through. Yes, they're given chief importance in Scripture in your cultivation and equipping, but you need to have Biblical context for each truth and spiritual gift that they bring you so that you will gain the most out of truly Christ-sent Bible teachers.
While there's little chance of the Devil ever again getting the Bible hidden away from the masses that already have it because of the numbers of Bibles in every translation that there is, your ability to guard yourself against error from even the best of Bible teachers with their occasionally speaking beyond what they know for themselves with passing on traditions of men that wouldn't survive indepth Biblical scrutiny is your responsibility. You also don't want to impose needless limitations to how Isaiah 59:21 operates in your life and your family's life and those who may look up to you that you're the furthest from being aware of:
21 “As for Me,” says the Lord, “this is My covenant with them: My Spirit who is upon you, and My words which I have put in your mouth, shall not depart from your mouth, nor from the mouth of your descendants, nor from the mouth of your descendants’ descendants,” says the Lord, “from this time and forevermore.” Isaiah 59:21
There's also the issue of Bible teachers you won't agree with over the years. Are you going to be dismissive of them because they're not repeating your tradition or are you going to know a Biblical framework for why they are either actually wrong, less understanding of certain truths you've grown in, or potentially bringing something to your attention from God that He hadn't previously held you accountable for getting right in your understanding, lifestyle, and perspective on what you already know? You have an obligation of fairness to those you won't agree with to not be dismissive without further Biblical proof being at your own command, just in case they're 100% right but simply are lousy in their delivery as communicators!
For those of you who don't have a personal background, yet, in spending large amounts of personal time in the Bible, there are likely allegories in the Bible you've never been satisfied that you've understood as much about them as you should have, or at least never in a framework that personalized that truth to you, to your world view, and to being a conversation point of yours should circumstances ever provide the opportunity. Whether it was an odd event of the Bible, an odd behavior of someone in the Bible, or a subject you've felt there's a million conflicting opinions about in the Church, it's ground that's yours for the taking if you are willing to familiarize yourself the most with the particular book or books of the Bible that deal with the matter that's left you uncomfortable, that you've simply shelved thus far, hoping God explains it to you someday.
Are you creating a context for God to pass His Commentary on it across the table to you by reading it another couple thousand times so that your imagination, subconscious, and conscience can have unhindered access to the precise details they need to seek God's assistance in breaking down and digesting and turning it into reconciliation between you and God through the Blood of Christ so love on a whole new level will erupt through you? Doesn't matter how big of a valley of dry bones the particular topic has been to you. If it doesn't leap out at you after months of immersing yourself in the Scriptures about it, you've still begun the process of making it yours, even if God has to teach you 900 other things before He will visit the particular topic with you, so that you'll have His context on the matter and can't lose that particular truth of His Word because of the well-meaning observations of secular and religious people who've developed alternative perspectives, theories, and interpretations. God's after building up your shield of faith and firmly securing the helmet of salvation on you regarding the specific matter and not just telling you such and such that you then proceed to walk into a million and one well-crafted opposing viewpoints of that are clever enough to derail what He specifically told you about it!
14 that we should no longer be children, tossed to and fro and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the trickery of men, in the cunning craftiness of deceitful plotting,
16 from whom the whole body, joined and knit together by what every joint supplies, according to the effective working by which every part does its share, causes growth of the body for the edifying of itself in love. Ephesians 4:14, 16
Timing doesn't enter the equation for you to understand something as you should until you fully plant your inner fields with the seeds of God's Word and develop a system of regularly revisiting the related Scriptures and their contexts as watering the fields inside of yourself that you've already planted. Then and then alone does the time-line even begin for you to proceed towards understanding, empowerment in that area of your life, and deeper, more permanent encounters with the Holy Spirit.
Father, I pray for those committing for the first time to have a real and unparalleled mastery of the Word of God, looking at the stages of their spiritual development in 10, 20, and 30yr increments that they'll give themselves wholly to, with every intention to have various subjects of the Word fully mastered through their own submission to thousands of hours of time in their own Bibles, relying on the Holy Spirit more than they've ever relied on Him in their whole lives until there isn't room in their consciousness and their conscience for anything other than truth and truths are being birthed into them on a daily and sometimes an hourly basis because they've become so saturated with the Scriptures in humility to their God. Father, open the eyes and ears of their heart with the full Work of the Cross, Blood, Resurrection, and High Priestly ministry of Christ Jesus. Show them the resurrection of each Scripture that's known academic, religious, and secular flogging, mocking, and crucifixion in their lifetimes. Raise up Your Word in them incorruptible and immortal so that they'll be doers of the Word on Your level of understanding of it (Ephesians 3:14-21; Ephesians 4:1; Colossians 1:10; 1Thessalonians 2:12) and not hearers only, half-hearing those who have taught them thus far. In the Name of Jesus, I bless them and release them to be fruitful, multiply, and to replenish all areas of their consciousness, imagination, and their conscience with the Scriptures.
Homework: Read Ephesians 4:1, Colossians 1:10, and 1Thessalonians 2:12, ALOUD, for two to four hours and go ahead and begin targeting a major area of unbelief in much of the preaching and many of the so-called worship songs in Christendom with laying a foundation for the Holy Spirit to start showing you the truth of THAT matter after you've concluded that homework assignment and begun the rest of your life with the Scriptures. For some of you, those 3 passages will be more startling than John 17's declarations that God loves you as much as He loves Jesus and intends for you to love others with the same love that the Father has for Jesus because you've had unworthiness and unmerited favor drilled into you since you were an embryo by well-meaning, deeply deceived Christians around you ON THAT ONE PARTICULAR MATTER. You'll quickly discover in confessing those 3 verses over and over and over and over again for a few hours that the New Testament really did give birth to the more romantic aspects of the knighthood-culture that developed in the centuries that followed it's completion!

For the idols speak delusion; the diviners envision lies, and tell false dreams; they comfort in vain. Therefore the people wend their way like sheep; they are in trouble because there is no shepherd. Zechariah 10:2
Unless otherwise noted, Scripture quotations are from a solid Center Column Reference Study New King James Version Bible. Where Center Column Reference alternate renderings are preferred, they're not always noted on the site at the time of their usage in a given context, if there's a discrepancy between our quotation and a NKJV that our site's visitors use that's missing the Center Column Reference notes that provide more literal renderings, alternative Hebrew and Greek manuscript variations, etc. Sometimes an "Understood Subject" from the given chapter of the Bible or the particular book of the Bible (perhaps previous chapter) is given attention to while teaching. Reading (and rereading) each book of the Bible [in it's entirety] that's being quoted from in the midst of each subject is [always] greatly encouraged for added clarity! While we're [deeply] supportive of what's understood to be orthodox Christian doctrine on all matters, we're always looking for what God's ADDITIONALLY saying to us in each subject being taught.
