1 O Israel, return to the LORD your God, For you have stumbled because of your iniquity; 2 Take words with you, And return to the LORD. Say to Him, “Take away all iniquity; Receive us graciously, For we will offer the sacrifices of our lips. 3 Assyria shall not save us, We will not ride on horses, Nor will we say anymore to the work of our hands, ‘You are our gods.’ For in You the fatherless finds mercy.” (Hosea 14:1-3)

It's amazing to me when some will assert sometimes that a sinner's prayer for embracing the Lordship of Jesus isn't Scriptural, when here is one of many such prayers, that are found in the pages of the Bible.  The Scriptures teach turning to the Lord and He will abundantly pardon in Isaiah 55 and in many other places.  Jonah chapter 3 gives one of several examples of Gentiles and Animals returning to God in repentance.  1Corinthians 10:11 says these things were written for our admonition, upon whom the ends of the ages have come.

Were a right relationship with the Lord a mere matter of an intellectual perspective rather than a relationship, then one might freely speak only of walking a more enlightened path.  But this of itself wouldn't be the repentance unto life that God has given the nations in Acts 11:18, Acts 17:30, and Acts 20:21.  Some try to argue that repentance is only applicable to Jews because of their heritage, whereas Gentiles don't often have something to repent to, because of pagan backgrounds.  They'll speak of them being conciliated rather than reconciled.  Yet Luke 24:47, and the aforementioned Acts 11:18, Acts 17:30, and Acts 20:21 assure us that all people everywhere must repent and save themselves from this wicked generation, as Peter preached on Pentecost.

Faith begins where the will of God is known and acted upon in repentance from what were one's ways outside of the Biblical commonwealth mentioned in Ephesians 2:11-13.  1John 1:9 and James 5:16 still save nations today, as in ancient times.

For the idols speak delusion; the diviners envision lies, and tell false dreams; they comfort in vain. Therefore the people wend their way like sheep; they are in trouble because there is no shepherd. Zechariah 10:2

Unless otherwise noted, Scripture quotations are from a solid Center Column Reference Study New King James Version Bible. Where Center Column Reference alternate renderings are preferred, they're not always noted on the site at the time of their usage in a given context, if there's a discrepancy between our quotation and a NKJV that our site's visitors use that's missing the Center Column Reference notes that provide more literal renderings, alternative Hebrew and Greek manuscript variations, etc. Sometimes an "Understood Subject" from the given chapter of the Bible or the particular book of the Bible (perhaps previous chapter) is given attention to while teaching. Reading (and rereading) each book of the Bible [in it's entirety] that's being quoted from in the midst of each subject is [always] greatly encouraged for added clarity! While we're [deeply] supportive of what's understood to be orthodox Christian doctrine on all matters, we're always looking for what God's ADDITIONALLY saying to us in each subject being taught.
