7 Wisdom is the principal thing; Therefore get wisdom. And in all your getting, get understanding. 8 Exalt her, and she will promote you; She will bring you honour, when you embrace her. 9 She will place on your head an ornament of grace; A crown of glory she will deliver to you.” Proverbs 4:7-9

Wisdom is the principal thing.  1Corinthians 1:30 says: "30 But of Him you are in Christ Jesus, who became for us wisdom from God, and righteousness, and sanctification, and redemption."  When He ascended far above all things, according to Ephesians 4:10, He became God's Wisdom for us.  Everyday, before your eyes are even fully open, you should thank God for His Wisdom.  Be in a continual mode of asking Him and thanking Him for more and more Wisdom.

Top priority in any circumstance you face, or with any individual you run across, is to thank God for His Wisdom being at work in you.  Never go more than half an hour without reaching out to God for His Wisdom in every detail of your life.  James 1:5 teaches us to expect for it to be given to us generously.  In other words, we shouldn't be expecting for just enough to get us by.  John 10:10 says Jesus came so we'd have life and have it more abundantly.  According to Proverbs 4:7-9, abundant life comes from exalting Wisdom in one's life.

When you embrace Wisdom, Proverbs 4:7-9 says it will lead you to honour.  You'll cherish honour, honesty, truth, integrity, and morality when God's Wisdom is at work in you and you'll refuse to settle for less from those you let into your life.  Wisdom brings you honour.  You'll get to where you refuse to live any other way and you'll passionately refuse to allow dishonour into your life.  You won't only refuse to be dishonourable, but from a perspective of real understanding, you won't tolerate dishonourable people to take up permanent valuable space in your life.

When that's happening, you've received your ornament of grace and crown of glory; you've become incorruptible.  That is real and lasting promotion from the Lord, no matter what outer circumstances ever look like.  Psalm 1 says you are not walking in the counsel of the ungodly and that sinners won't stand in your congregation.  Psalm 15 says a vile person is despised in your eyes, but you honour those who walk in Proverbs 1:7 fear of the Lord.

Proverbs 10:1 says "a wise son makes a glad Father."  That's what you're looking for all of your days: how to please your heavenly Father.  Never go very many minutes without rejoicing in the Lord, your God, for the abundance of all Wisdom that Jesus has been made to you, according to 1Corinthians 1:30.

For the idols speak delusion; the diviners envision lies, and tell false dreams; they comfort in vain. Therefore the people wend their way like sheep; they are in trouble because there is no shepherd. Zechariah 10:2

Unless otherwise noted, Scripture quotations are from a solid Center Column Reference Study New King James Version Bible. Where Center Column Reference alternate renderings are preferred, they're not always noted on the site at the time of their usage in a given context, if there's a discrepancy between our quotation and a NKJV that our site's visitors use that's missing the Center Column Reference notes that provide more literal renderings, alternative Hebrew and Greek manuscript variations, etc. Sometimes an "Understood Subject" from the given chapter of the Bible or the particular book of the Bible (perhaps previous chapter) is given attention to while teaching. Reading (and rereading) each book of the Bible [in it's entirety] that's being quoted from in the midst of each subject is [always] greatly encouraged for added clarity! While we're [deeply] supportive of what's understood to be orthodox Christian doctrine on all matters, we're always looking for what God's ADDITIONALLY saying to us in each subject being taught.
