Book of Judges in the Old Testament introduces the concept of judgment equaling deliverance. That concept is never lost going into the New Testament Grace-Kingdom. It would be accurate, from a Hebraic perspective, to say that in 2Corinthians 5:10 we must all appear before the deliverance seat of Christ that each one may receive in proportion to the things done in the body, whether good or bad. It would equally be accurate to say the same thing about Revelation chapter 20 about those that were delivered according to what the Books said they'd done, and anyone that didn't worship Him at Tabernacles that particular year, according to Zechariah 14, was cast into the drought. Some people would say Hell's not permanent but the Lake of Fire is 'cause of the association of it with "forever and ever," terminology yet you've got "forever and ever" repeated twice in Isaiah 34 regarding two different judgments on the land, clearly in a context where the fire judgment mentioned in that chapter couldn't have lasted more than a few weeks, if there was anything left for the animals mentioned in that chapter to have a temporary abode in the abandoned stuff. If that were the case in Isaiah 34, then there's ABSOLUTELY NO REASON why the drought conditions of Zechariah 14, the dry place Jesus said evil spirits go to when they're cast out, Tartarus that's mentioned in one of St. Peter's epistles, and the Lake of Fire from the Book of Revelation wouldn't all be totally equivalent terminology!
I realize the things I'm saying today are going to make some of you go back to the Book of Judges and go over it with a fine-toothed comb, as well as perhaps hit some of the commentaries and references elsewhere to judgment equaling deliverance, but:
and has given Him authority to execute deliverance also, because He is the Son of Man. John 5:27
I can of Myself do nothing. As I hear, I deliver: and My deliverance is righteous, because I do not seek My own will but the will of the Father who sent Me. John 5:30
I charge you therefore before God and the Lord Jesus Christ, who will deliver the living and the dead at His appearing and His kingdom: Preach the word! Be ready in season and out of season. Convince, rebuke, exhort, with all longsuffering and teaching. 2Timothy 4:1-2
Some would critique what I've said with paraphrasing the last 3 verses with saying that that wouldn't work in other passages, like in Romans 5, but it doesn't need to because another form of the word is used there “justification” in what's clearly a Hebraically loaded passage! So what am I saying here? The Gospel is a Gospel of Judgment/Deliverance that's established upon better promises than the Covenant that was the context for the Book of Judges.
Do you not know that the saints will deliver the world? And if the world will be delivered by you, are you unworthy to deliver the smallest matters? Do you not know that we shall deliver angels? How much more things that pertain to this life? 1Corinthians 6:2-3
All I'm saying is that with having divorced the concept of Judgment from it's Hebrew roots we've not been teaching a balanced view of Biblical judgment/deliverance. This passage is EXTREMELY INSTRUCTIVE to those operating in the judgments and/or deliverances of the Lord in the Grace-Kingdom of Christ; this passage has EVERYTHING TO DO WITH the fulfillment of the Great Commission:
16 Nevertheless, the Lord raised up judges who delivered them out of the hand of those who plundered them. 17 Yet they would not listen to their judges, but they played the harlot with other gods, and bowed down to them. They turned quickly from the way in which their fathers walked, in obeying the commandments of the Lord; they did not do so. 18 And when the Lord raised up judges for them, the Lord was with the judge and delivered them out of the hand of their enemies all the days of the judge; for the Lord was moved to pity by their groaning because of those who oppressed them and harassed them. 19 And it came to pass, when the judge was dead, that they reverted and behaved more corruptly than their fathers, by following other gods, to serve them and bow down to them. They did not cease from their own doings nor from their stubborn way. 20 Then the anger of the Lord was hot against Israel; and He said, “Because this nation has transgressed My covenant which I commanded their fathers, and has not heeded My voice, 21 I also will no longer drive out before them any of the nations which Joshua left when he died, 22 so that through them I may test Israel, whether they will keep the ways of the Lord, to walk in them as their fathers kept them, or not.” 23 Therefore the Lord left those nations, without driving them out immediately; nor did He deliver them into the hand of Joshua. Judges 2:16-23
Zero doubts when we show Him that our generation is filled with Psalm 112; Colossians 3:12-17 believers that He'll immediately make good on His Ephesians 1 promise:
7 In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of His grace 8 which He made to abound toward us in all wisdom and prudence, 9 having made known to us the mystery of His will, according to His good pleasure which He purposed in Himself, 10 that in the dispensation of the fullness of the times He might gather together in one all things in Christ, both which are in heaven and which are on earth—in Him. Ephesians 1:7-10
and we'll not only have a Revelation 5:13 world, but we'll fully enter into all of the fullness of the Isaiah 11:2-9; Isaiah 65:20-24 world that's rightfully belonged to us all of these centuries since Christ Jesus was raised from the dead because Jeremiah 31:27-28 and Zechariah 8:11-17 are His perfect will for our lives! Let's look at something from Isaiah 45 in closing:
22 “Look to Me, and be saved, all you ends of the earth! For I am God, and there is no other. 23 I have sworn by Myself; the word has gone out of My mouth in righteousness, and shall not return, that to Me every knee shall bow, every tongue shall take an oath. 24 He shall say, ‘Surely in the Lord I have righteousness and strength. To Him men shall come, and all shall be ashamed who are incensed against Him. 25 In the Lord all the descendants of Israel Shall be justified, and shall glory.’” Isaiah 45:22-25
This passage ends the way that it began. Have you learned the lesson of Jeremiah 31:27-28 when reading Isaiah 45:25? You could paraphrase Isaiah 45:24-25 based upon Jeremiah 31:27-28, Zechariah 8, Zechariah 14, and other passages that I've previously demonstrated teach the same lesson as Jeremiah 31:27-28 into saying that as He caused the House of Israel, the House of Judah, the seed of Gentiles, and the seed of Animals to be ashamed for previously being incensed against Him, so now they shall be justified and shall glory! The oath of Isaiah 45:23 is still subject to the same Mark 11:23-24 laws of every other oath and it's still subject to what it says in Isaiah 59:
21 “As for Me,” says the Lord, “this is My covenant with them: My Spirit who is upon you, and My words which I have put in your mouth, shall not depart from your mouth, nor from the mouth of your descendants, nor from the mouth of your descendants’ descendants,” says the Lord, “from this time and forevermore.” Isaiah 59:21
Look at the full spectrum of the descendants that are mentioned in Jeremiah 31:27-28 when reading Isaiah 59:21: House of Israel, House of Judah, Seed of Gentiles, Seed of Animals. Jeremiah 31:27-28 is the definitive proof that the blessing and curse of the blessing of Abraham have to work through human history until there's nothing left but the blessing for all of Mankind and all of Animalkind! Jeremiah 31:27-28 and all of it's related passages are what take the sting out of any wrecklessness that anyone might imagine that I had with passages of Scripture at the start of what I've said today with what I said from John's Gospel, 2Timothy, 1Corinthians 6, 2Corinthians 5, and elsewhere. The very nature of the Abrahamic Covenant is to absolutely demolish all that's Pagan from amongst us until there's nothing left within each of us and around all of us but the total Lordship of YHVH (1Corinthians 15:28). Jeremiah 31:27-28 clarifies that for anyone that didn't “get it” the 1st several dozen times it was mentioned in Scripture!

For the idols speak delusion; the diviners envision lies, and tell false dreams; they comfort in vain. Therefore the people wend their way like sheep; they are in trouble because there is no shepherd. Zechariah 10:2
Unless otherwise noted, Scripture quotations are from a solid Center Column Reference Study New King James Version Bible. Where Center Column Reference alternate renderings are preferred, they're not always noted on the site at the time of their usage in a given context, if there's a discrepancy between our quotation and a NKJV that our site's visitors use that's missing the Center Column Reference notes that provide more literal renderings, alternative Hebrew and Greek manuscript variations, etc. Sometimes an "Understood Subject" from the given chapter of the Bible or the particular book of the Bible (perhaps previous chapter) is given attention to while teaching. Reading (and rereading) each book of the Bible [in it's entirety] that's being quoted from in the midst of each subject is [always] greatly encouraged for added clarity! While we're [deeply] supportive of what's understood to be orthodox Christian doctrine on all matters, we're always looking for what God's ADDITIONALLY saying to us in each subject being taught.
